ANZAC Day is a special day for all people across Australia and New Zealand, and one that we at Certis Security Australia celebrate with increased importance. A number of our team members are former servicemen and servicewomen who are integral to our mission, drawing on their military experience every day within their roles. While we appreciate their services every day of the year, on ANZAC Day, we thank and acknowledge everyone who has served this country, making it what it is today.
Tim Butcher, Senior Manager – Aviation Strategy and Stakeholder Relations at Certis Security Australia and an Australian Army veteran, is just one of our employees with a defence background. Prior to working with us, Tim held various senior leadership, strategy and operational roles with the Australian Army and continues to serve as an Army Reserve Officer today. A key highlight during his service was his selection as a deputy team leader & intelligence officer to the United Nations in the middle east, where he was awarded the United Nations Formal Letter of Appreciation for Exemplary Service.
“As a proud Australian veteran, I carry much of what I learned in the Army with me today, using it to fulfil my role with Certis Security Australia—from leadership to problem-solving to critical thinking—it’s all relevant and enables me to succeed. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been entrusted with such responsibility within the military and the opportunities that I was afforded to assist in my own development. The behaviours and skills I developed from these experiences have been invaluable to me and I strive to share these with my colleagues,” said Butcher.
ANZAC Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions and offers a unique opportunity to reflect on and commemorate the service that has been and continues to be undertaken by our friends, families and neighbours in the defence of our nation. Servicemen and women sacrifice so much for our society, from missing special occasions such as family events, births, funerals all the way through to placing themselves in harm’s way. ANZAC Day is an opportunity for us to pause and recognise these sacrifices and thank veterans for their service to our nation.
Butcher recently spoke with Izabella Staskowski from Channel Nine about his career in the Army, his transition from the military and what ANZAC Day means to him. His interview was recently aired on Channel Nine’s Today Show on ANZAC Day; in case you missed it, you can view the interview here: https://9now.nine.com.au/today/how-veterans-are-reflecting-this-anzac-day/7eccfad1-007f-44c1-95f4-a4835c39ccbc
